Obor Sakti Art Group Bogor

Obor Sakti (Magical Torch) is a cultural art group governed by Obor Sakti Foundation, which focuses in arts and culture. This foundation served as a join force of professionals in cultural arts. This group has generated creations, ideas, and artworks in enhancing and enriching the development of national art and culture. The instructors and trainers of this art group are graduates from Sekolah Menengah Karawitan Indonesia (SMKI) Bandung, Akademi Seni Tari Indonesia (ASTI) Bandung, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Bandung, and Sekolah Tinggi Seni Indonesia (STSI) Bandung. The group also has instructors who are experienced traditional artists.

Obor Sakti Art Group has a great concern in developing and improving professionalism in arts, cultures and also tourism. In this line, the group has successfully organized some art events, created art choreographies, and other cultural arts related activities.

Achievements of this group among others are; Performing “Karawitan” in Vienna, Austria (1996); Second Best Choreographer in National Dancing Creation (2004); Winner of Best Directing for Contemporary Dance “Tontolang Nangka” in Bandung Dance Festival (2009); Winner of the Best Choreographer in Seni Kemasan Festival, Bogor. (2011).

“4 X 4 Dance”

The reality in education has shown ambiguity, contradictions and paradoxes. On one hand, the aim of education is to build good and education humans. On the other hand, education also creates discriminatory and pessimistic culture.

We are student, what are we studying for and for whom? The knowledge that we gain, who will it side? The knowledge we were taught, would be a tool of freedom or slavery? Do we even have to ask?
