Synopsis

Tari Bawang Merah  is usually performed after the harvest has been brought in – in this case the harvest of red onions - in the Brebes region, Central Java.  Men and women form dancing couples to celebrate the end of the harvesting season and also to thank the deities for their generosity and kindness.
Calung Bantarkawung originates from the Brebes region but is influenced by music from West Java. It consists of music played on traditional instruments as well as songs.
